Medtronic Spinal to cut at least 60 jobs in Memphis

(WMC-TV) – Medtronic Spinal is making cuts that will cost 230 people their jobs, 60 of which will be in Memphis.

The company is restructuring elements of Medtronic Spinal in an effort "to set a foundation for the business to return to growth and consistently achieve financial goals."

A statement announcing its intentions was released by the company Wednesday.

The employee reductions are just one part of achieving a savings goal to reduce costs by approximately 5 percent.

Medtronic's spinal and biologics business is based in Memphis. Medtronic Spine employees approximately 1,300 people in Memphis.
