MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A grizzlies fan is getting notice around the world for the grit he showed in one picture.

"Jason Williams was my favorite player, and once he got traded to Memphis, I fell in love with that style of basketball," said Memphis Grizzlies fan Jeremy Carroll. "I've always rooted for the underdog. They seemed like the perfect team."

Tuesday night, a 22-year-old from California made the 400 mile journey to Los Angeles to watch Game five live and root on his underdog team. Clipper fans gave him a hard time, but Memphis fans adopted him quickly at the Staples Center.

"We had girls trying to take our growl towels," he said. "We had Quincy Pondexter's mom sitting like five rows in front of us, and I have to give a shout out to Jeff Norris for loaning me the growl towel for the game."

During that game, TNT television found Carroll in the stands, wearing a Jason Williams jersey and the viral picture was born.

"My girlfriend surprised me with tickets to the game," he said. "It was a great time. Wouldn't have traded it for the world, especially since we won the game."

Carroll is a Memphis fan who has never been in the Bluff City. He cannot help falling in love with the city and its team, almost 2,000 miles away in California.

"I feel the love out here in California, and I can't wait to get out there in Memphis and experience that for real," he said.
