Sarah Simmons stuns coaches with 'angelic' performance

(WMC-TV) - Memphian Sarah Simmons stunned coaches on NBC's "The Voice" Monday. Her coach Adam Levine said she was one of the most incredible singers he has ever heard in his life.

Sarah Simmons blew the coaches away with her performance of "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan.

"Every time I hear from a coach I get deeply humbled. Like every single time, because they are so incredible. They are so successful, but really they are just incredible artists," said Simmons.

Getting to this point on the show has been an exhausting process for Simmons. For that reason, her family is taking a break from their lives to give Sarah all the support they can.

"Just getting a hug from us yesterday was big for her," said mother Peggy Jones.

As long as a Sarah is singing on "The Voice" her mom is going to make the trip here. This is now Peggy Jones' fourth trip.

Her family still does not get to see her much. Simmons starts rehearsing early in the morning and might get to grab a late dinner with her mom and older sister, Jessica Simmons.

"See her when we can be as supportive as we can. Shoot her a text if she does still have her cell phone," said Jessica.

Staff with the show takes Sarah where she needs to go from Walgreens to the nail salon. For her family, the whole process has been fascinating.

"I kind of think of this as one of Sarah's adventures, more so than a surreal experience. It's definitely weird to see her on television all the time," said Jessica.

Simmons song "Angel" was in dedication to a friend of hers at Visible Music School in Memphis who died last year at an early age.
