(WMC-TV) - Memphis' own Kris Thomas and Sarah Simmons advance to the next round of NBC's "The Voice" after results were revealed Tuesday night.

Voting for the national competition took place Monday after a live national broadcast.

Viewers voted to keep Kris Thomas in the competition on Team Shakira, and Simmons on Team Adam.

"I'm so honored that America and especially Memphis supported me and voted me through. It makes me feel great to represent Memphis," said Thomas.

Thomas was part of the first guest performance of the show singing backup for Robin Thicke, T.I., and Pharrell. Simmons sang with the rest of her Team and Adam Levine to The Cure's "Love Song".

"Thank you, America, for supporting me especially Memphis and Birmingham. I love all of you. I couldn't do this without you. I'm deeply grateful to continue and humbled by all the artists around me, they're so incredible," said Simmons.
