Attempted kidnapping suspect turns himself in

(WMC-TV) - The man who is accused of trying to abduct an elderly woman turned himself into authorities Thursday.

The victim told police she was loading groceries into her car Tuesday when she was approached by a man who said he needed a ride to Nashville. When she said she was not able to help him, he threatened her.

The victim spoke with Action News 5 Wednesday.

"I started to turn, and he said, 'I've got a gun, get in your car.'"

The victim, who asked to remain anonymous, said that she screamed and ran away, darting in and out of cars in the parking lot.

A witness who saw the woman run away followed the suspect and was able to take a photo of him.

The man who turned himself in has not yet been charged with a crime.
