(WMC-TV) - The Grizzlies fell to the Spurs 105-83 in game one of the Western Conference Finals.
The entire first quarter was just a long San Antonio Spurs run, as they jumped out to an early lead and an early advantage on the boards, out-rebounding the Grizzlies early by an eight to one margin.
Tony Parker led the Spurs with a game high 20 points, while Tim Duncan was limited to only six points, although he grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Spurs took a 51-37 lead into half, while Zach Randolph was limited to only two points after missing on his first seven shot attempts.
Quincy Pondexter was the only bright spot for the Grizzlies, as he led the team with 17 points, getting Memphis back into the game. Following a string of Pondexter 3's, Jerryd Bayless brought the Grizzlies within six with a steal and a dunk.
The Spurs hit a franchise playoff best 14 three-balls including four from Matt Bonner and four from Kawhi Leonard.
This was not the first time Memphis has faced San Antonio in the post-season. They met in 2011 for what ended up being a historic moment for the Grizz.
That year, Memphis was an 8th seed, taking on top-seeded San Antonio. They earned their first ever playoff victory, beating the Spurs in game one on the road.
But this is a new series -- and the Grizz will have to wait until game two to make a comeback and even the series.
