(WMC-TV) - It is Grizzlies Friday, as proclaimed by Memphis Mayor A C Wharton. Many Memphians are getting into the spirit, wearing blue and gold as a showing of support.

All over the Bluff City, Grizzlies flags flew on cars. Blue and yellow can be found on just about everyone around town.

Mayor A C Wharton deemed it Grizzlies Friday, and even employers that you would not expect heard his message loud and clear.

"We're the official hospital of the Grizzlies. Normally as a hospital we wear specific kinds of attire and professional clothes but we said, 'You know, we're part of this team,'" said Marilynn Robinson, St. Francis Hospital.

St. Francis Hospital was not the only one whose employees were sporting Grizz gear.

Banners outside of Le Bonheur Children's Hospital were flew proudly.

The lobby of the famous Peabody Hotel had some grit and grind just above the swimming ducks.

Wooden statues of several players were painted outside of Presbyterian Day School.

"I love them, they look really great and their faces looks really good. And it looks just like them. I know it, looks exactly like him," said Ben Spiegelman, whose favorite player is Marc Gasol.

Love for the team has been rising long before Grizzlies Friday and it appears to be contagious.

"Never had a flag for the Grizzlies, and I saw flags flying all over," said Robert Tatom, Grizzlies fan. "I think the Grizzlies are healing this city, bringing people together and you know, we're about the same thing, just healing people in a different way."
