Friends of Sarah Simmons look forward to next performance

(WMC-TV) - Sarah Simmons is the last Memphian left to compete on NBC's "The Voice". On Monday, she will compete for a stop in the top six.

There is no telling what Sarah has up her sleeve for her live performance Monday night. She has done it all now, from ballads, to rock, and blues. She has America and her friends at Memphis' Visible Music College wanting more.

"It's still just crazy to think that Sarah is on national television," said her former roommate, Alicia Norman.

Sarah's first year roommate remembers hearing her sing for the first time.

"It took us forever just to get her to sing. She's a very humble person," said Norman. But when she did finally sing for them, they were floored.

Just like he has since the beginning, the president of Visible Music College is still singing Sarah's praises.

"I think it is for Sarah, just the beginning," said Ken Steorts.

Win or lose, it is her passion that friends say will take this opportunity and run with it.

"Sarah is definitely a voice, but she's more than a voice. She's got the heart to go along with it, the heart, the passion and sort of that tenderness that turns rough at the right moment and passionate person, and voice," added Steorts.

You can hear Sarah Simmons sing again Monday on Action News 5 at 7 p.m.
