A look ahead: Dangerous fireworks in your neighborhood

(WMC-TV) - Did you know a sparkler burns as hot as a blow torch? That temperature is 2,000 degrees.

Even though it is against the law to set off fireworks without a permit in most of the Mid-South – many people know they will see illegal displays over the coming week.

Tonight on Action News Five at 10 – the investigators map out fireworks rules in Your Neighborhood, and you will hear first-hand why you have to be careful.

"We were just watching, and suddenly there was an explosion and I felt that I got hit," said Angel Lewis who was injured by fireworks.

Last year, professional, homemade or banned fireworks killed at least six people in the U.S. and injured thousands more.

Tonight on Action News Five at 10, we tell you what you need to know about Mid-South fireworks displays, and how to report neighbors breaking the law.
