Police investigate fatal shooting of a teen

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) – A 16-year-old is dead after a Saturday evening shooting in the Klondike area of Memphis. Action News 5's Lauren Squires was on the scene when the grandmother of the fatal shooting victim arrived.

It happened just after 5:30 Saturday evening in the Klondike area. The shooting left one teen dead and his family asking a lot of questions about why it happened.

When Eugene Whitmore arrived home Saturday, crime tape wrapped the street and his front yard, where police say a teen was shot. That teen walked next door and fell, where he later died.

Janette Wallace said, "His father called me and told me."

Wallace says that teen was her 16-year-old grandson, Quinton Wallace. Action News 5 was there when she arrived on scene.

"So I rushed over and now I have no answers," Wallace told Action News 5.

The victim's father was too shaken to talk. He was seen consoling and being consoled by friends and family.

A family torn apart by violence trapped behind crime tape for yet another teen's life.

"I don't know anything, I'm just here. I would like some answer, I really would," said Janette Wallace.

Police say they know who the suspect is, but have not made any arrests as of Saturday night.

If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
