Fireworks, festivities in Middle Tennessee


Thursday July 4

* The city of Nashville plans to hold its largest and longest fireworks show to date Thursday. The event is called 'Let Freedom Sing,' and popular country music group The Band Perry will take the stage about 7 p.m. with fireworks to follow about 9:45 p.m. at The Lawn at Riverfront Park.

* Providence Marketplace is set to host the city of Mt. Juliet's July 4th celebration Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Organizers plan a variety of kid-friendly games and entertainment, including water sprinklers and face painting at the development's town center at 401 S. Mt. Juliet Rd. The fireworks show will start about 9 p.m. near the Providence 14 Theatre.

* 4th of July Celebration at Whitaker Park in Monterey. Flea market, live music, food, and fireworks at dark. For more information call (931) 839-2111.  Event will be moved to Friday if it rains.

Friday, July 5

More than 150,000 people attended last year's celebration near the Nashville riverfront, and with another large crowd expected, the city has added a second night of live music and fireworks at the same location on July 5.

Saturday, July 6

Manchester and Winchester, TN, have moved their fireworks shows to Saturday because of the rain in the forecast.
