(WMC-TV) - With a new season comes new players. After last week's NBA Draft, the Grizzlies have a couple new additions to the roster.
Monday, the Grizzlies welcomed in their two second round draft picks, 21 year old Jamaal Franklin from San Diego State, and 20 year old Jannis Timma from Latvia.
Franklin led the San Diego State Aztecs in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals last season as a junior, and has already earned himself a nickname.
"I'm a person that loves to grind. If you know my past, know my history, I didn't get anything handed to me, I had to grind to get it, so to have the name as grindson, I take that with pride," said Franklin.
Meanwhile, as the last pick in the draft, Timma will have to impress the management in the NBA Summer League to stay in the States and not be forced to go back to his team in Europe.
"[I have to] show my best, that I can play five on five, how I can move, how I can defend, help the team on defense, and offense, if I do my best, the coaches and staff will like it, and it will be good," said Timma.
Whether or not they make an immediate impact, they both will have to answer the bell as the new guys in town, meaning there will be a lot on their plates.
"There's pressure. There's always pressure when you go into the NBA as a rookie. It's a lot different pressure because you want to match what your goals are with what the team goals are so its definitely pressure but you just have to stay calm and just make sure you work hard for it and you have all the answers to all theses tests right now so it's all up to you," added Franklin.
