(WMC-TV) - A Mid-South teen is trying to recall his memories from nearly two weeks ago when he and his friends were struck by lightning.

"It was sunny. Then we were walking. Then it got cloudy. I guess it started raining," said Kenneth "Lulu" Childs.

Kenneth Childs, called Lulu by his family, is vague about what happened. But his mother, Sherry Lewis, remembers when she got the phone call.

"They said he just got struck by lightning. I just got hysterical," she said.

She and her family rushed to The MED where the three teenagers were taken by ambulance.

Lulu woke up in the hospital and saw his family.

"I said, 'What am I doing in the hospital?' " he said.

Lulu and his two high school-aged friends were walking in a West Memphis neighborhood when the storm hit. They took cover from the rain under a tree.

"We looked out the door. I thought something may have hit a tree. No, it was three kids under the tree lightning had hit them," said neighbor Mary Munn.

Lewis said he son was knocked out.

"He wasn't breathing. One of the officers gave him CPR had to give him chest compressions to bring him back," she said.

All three teens had some burns on them and numbness.

According to Lewis, her son and his friends will be fine, but they did learn a lesson about lightning.

"I ain't going to be around it. I ain't going to be out no more,' said Lulu.
