MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Charges have been dropped against a Bartlett police officer being investigated for domestic abuse.

Officer Quentin Crowley was arrested in June after a verbal altercation that reportedly turned physical. The initial report accused Crowley of pushing his wife, who fell and hit the back of her head on a hardwood floor.

A document Action News 5 obtained recommended Crowley for Bartlett Police Department's 2012 Weddendorf Award. The recommendation describes him as "an employee who knows his strengths and finds away (sic) to use them to make sure he is a vital part of the police department."

He was placed on administrative leave as the case against him was investigated.

It has not been revealed as to why the charges were dropped.
