Former AN5 anchor passes away at 89

(WMC-TV) - We are remembering a member of the Action News 5 family this week.

Peggy Rolfes passed away Wednesday at age 89.

Peggy helped Action News 5 launch our former morning news-talk broadcast "Wake Up Call" in 1979. She co-hosted that program with Dick Hawley.

The pair co-anchored Action News 5 at Noon for many years.

Peggy was famous for sharing all kinds of tips for making life simpler and even produced a handy card set with

helpful suggestions called "why didn't I think of that?"

Visitation for Peggy Rolfes will be Sunday, July 14 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Canale Funeral Home.

A funeral mass will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 15 at St Louis Church, 203 South White Station Road.
