(WMC-TV) - Classes in Shelby County resume in less than a month and many students still do not know which school they will attend.
The district admits the merger process has slowed down and the staffing changes, just recently finalized, altered the number of available spaces in each school and resulted in more denials.
Both of Stephanie Deupree's boys were first in line for their choice school and have been denied.
Deupree stated, "It makes it very difficult to prepare. Its unfortunate and really a disservice for all the students of Shelby County."
Deupree is appealing the transfer denials for her two boys. However, Deupree's letter from the district says she should send her sons to their assigned school in their zone until they hear otherwise on or before August 9. School begins August 5.
