San Francisco reopens runway where crash occurred

(WMC-TV) - San Francisco International Airport reopened the runway where the Asiana Airlines Flight 214 crashed last weekend.

The Federal Aviation Administration stated a final inspection has been "conducted before clearing it for reopening. Special flyover flights [were included] yesterday afternoon."

Three people were killed in the crash and 180 people injured. The airport staff has been cleaning and repairing the runway since Wednesday.

"The moment they said we're ready to go in removing the aircraft itself, the contractors were standing by with their big rigs and cranes, ready to begin work," declared Director John Martin.

All four runways at the airport are now open.
