St. Jude archery tournament classified as a 'win for all'

(WMC-TV) - Many say the first St. Jude's Archery Tournament competition was a win for all.

"It takes a lot of hard work and you have to remember all the steps to get a great shot," stated competitor Morgan Griffin.

When asked why Griffin decided to compete, her answer was simple.

"It was for St. Jude. I really liked that and I needed practice" continued Griffin.

Mother Melissa Hamm first decided to found the event when her son, Chase, was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

"All of our donations we receive will be given to S. Jude," declared Hamm.

The archery contest is not only a way for Hamm to give back; but, also a way for others to donate to St. Jude.

"I think it's an awesome way to raise money for St. Jude" archer Elizabeth Gunterman affirmed.

Nearly three dozen archers competed in the tournament. Many just donated.

St. Jude's Children Hospital treats all eligible patients regardless of their family's ability to pay. This costs $1.8 million per day.
