Car crashes into bakery, hits owner

(WMC-TV) - A Honda Accord crashed into a Mexican bakery Monday afternoon, hitting the bakery owner.

The crash happened at La Espiga Panaderia on the 3000 block of Summer Avenue just before 1 p.m.

The hole left in the front of the bakery after the entire car ended up in the store is now covered with plywood.

Action News 5's Jason Miles was told on the scene that the bakery owner hit by the car was not seriously injured.

A witness said it appeared that the driver of the car accidentally hit the gas pedal rather than the break when driving in the parking lot.

"I was asking myself how it got in there," said witness Carlos Garcia. "The angle it was in left me speechless."

Memphis police officers say the driver was cited.
