IAAF may vote to revived four-year ban on athletes using drugs

(WMC-TV) - The four-year ban on athletes for using performance enhancing drugs may soon be revived.

The International Association of Athletics Federations is set to vote Thursday whether to bring back the four-year ban for first time offenders.

One IAFF member made clear although there is more to be done...the situation has improved vastly in the last ten years.

"There is still more to be done... I think that the budget allocated to anti-doping, probably does not fully reflect the problem, it's a lot better than it was 10 years ago," stated Radcliffe.

Current rules restrict the IAAF to handing out two-year bans to first-time offenders...which allow many athletes to serve their suspensions without missing the Olympic Games.
