(WMC-TV) - There is a possible plea deal in the works for family members who are accused of helping a man in a Mid-South murder-kidnapping case.

Teresa Mayes is the widow and Mary Mayes is the mother of Adam Mayes who authorities said killed Jo Ann Bain and her 14-year-old daughter before kidnapping Bain's two other girls.

"I just want it over with. I know that sounds cold hearted, but I just want closure for me for them for the whole deal," said Teresa's sister Bobbi Booth.

Teresa and Mary Mayes have been behind bars for more than a year.

Bobbi Booth said Teresa talked about a plea agreement her attorney is trying to work out with the state. District Attorney Mike Dunavant also said there are talks.

As Adam Mayes is charged with kidnapping and murder in the deaths of JoAnn Bain and her 14-year-old daughter, Adrienne, prosecutors say Teresa was involved in all of it. The mother is accused of participating in the kidnapping.

Adam shot himself as investigators closed in on him in the woods freeing the two captive Bain girls.

"Let me make it clear my sister needs to be punished for her participation, but she did not ... There's no evidence. There's no where anybody has stated that she clearly murdered anybody. Adam did that," said Booth.

Booth believes her sister should serve time.

"No matter what, there is no right answer in this situation," she said.

Friday's hearing will be the last court date before the trial unless a plea agreement can be reached.
