Exonerated man is competing for dream

(WMC-TV) - A man who spent five years in prison for a crime he did not commit is working hard to achieve his dream.

28-year-old Brian Banks was freed after serving five years in prison for rape and another five years on probation.

Banks is now living his dream and competing for a spot on the Atlanta Falcons' roster. Banks originally was a highly regarded prospect coming out of high school. He played in the team's pre-season game Thursday night.

When asked if the competition was stressful, Banks replied he "felt no pressure stepping onto the field".

"Nervous is when you walk into a courtroom and you don't know what your fate's gonna be when you walk into that courtroom. Nervous is when you walk onto a prison yard for the first time at the age of 18, and you don't know what's gonna happen to you," stated Banks.

Banks is thrilled to be starring in the Falcon's preseason debut.
