Thousands of fans are celebrating Elvis' week kickoff

(WMC-TV) - Thousands of Elvis fans are traveling to Memphis for the 36th annual Elvis week.

The 'Elvis A.D.' or 'After Death' fans have traveled far and wide to be in Memphis for Elvis week.

Don Adams is an Elvis Tribute Artist and he's been coming to Elvis week for years. But this year, he has a job to do.

"Her name is Presley," stated Adams.

Adams is referring to his new granddaughter.

"She'll try to dance with Elvis music. That's all she'll listen to with me is Elvis music," stated Adams proudly.

She isn't alone. The viral video of 20-month-old Ella Mae singing Elvis' "An American Trilogy" in the back seat of her dad's car has almost 100,000 views on YouTube.

Elvis fans aren't surprised that the newest generation may become Elvis' fans.

"Elvis Presley is simply untouched. He was...a driving force in music," stated fan Jon Daly.

Jon Daly runs the Facebook Page "Elvis A.D. Fans" for fans born after August 16, 1977.

"His music is original. His movies are fantastic," continued Daly.

Daly is not surprised that in today's technology filled world Elvis has his own Twitter account. After all, he believes it's what Elvis would have wanted.

"In 1977, he was trying to get an advanced copy of Star Wars. So, he was defiantly on cutting edge of what was out there and what can I get my hands on," stated Daly.

Grandpa Adams agrees his granddaughter has a lot cut out for her.

"Eventually, she'll be on the stage with me. I'm sure," declared Adams.
