MPD officer convicted of drunk driving

(WMC-TV) - A Memphis police officer, who spent 14 years on the force, has been convicted of drunk driving and possessing a weapon while intoxicated. He was convicted of the crimes Friday evening.

As a result of the conviction, Vance Stacks faces up to 11 months and 29 days in jail.

The 43-year-old officer was not on duty when he crashed into a concrete overpass on May 20, 2011. A passenger in his car suffered a broken hip, foot, and broke both of his ankles.

Stacks' blood alcohol level was measured at .19.

The veteran police officer was fired from the department in October 2012.
