The Memphis Grizzlies acquired center Fab Melo in a trade with the Boston Celtics on Thursday.
In exchange for the big man, the Grizzlies part ways with forward Donte Greene.
Melo is entering his second season in the NBA, after playing two years at Syracuse University.
At 7'0" 255 lbs., the 23-year-old played in six games last season with Boston while averaging 1.2 points per game in six minutes per contest.
He also played in 33 games in the NBA Development League with the Maine Red Claws, where he averaged 9.8 points, 6 rebounds, and a league high 3.1 blocks per game.
While with the Red Claws, Melo recorded a D-League record 14 blocked shots in one game.
The Brazil native was named to the 2013 NBA D-League All-Rookie First Team and All-Defensive First Team.
The Celtics selected Melo with the 22nd overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, after he took home the Big East Defensive Player of the Year award his sophomore season at Syracuse.
Greene, meanwhile, did not see action with the Grizzlies last season after signing with the team on April 17th.
The 25-year old missed most of the 2012-2013 regular season while recovering from a broken ankle suffered during off season workouts.
