Broken water main repairs still underway

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - A broken water main forced two Germantown schools to dismiss classes early Friday.

Students at Houston Middle School and Houston High School were dismissed at 12:30 p.m. The water main break caused a power outage to both schools.

Eastbound lanes of Wolf River Blvd from Johnson Road remain closed to traffic as of 6 p.m. as city crews continue their work beneath the street.

But some folks with Friday night plans may not get to shower

According to city officials, the damaged 12-inch water main was located and repairs are being made.

They had to first pump a bunch of water out of the hole they dug up. The broken pipe left a number of area homes without water.

No word on how long it may take to repair the broken water main. Meanwhile, there is a detour for drivers headed east on Wolf River Blvd.

Germantown police say the eastbound lanes of Wolf River Boulevard from Johnson Road remain closed Friday night. Crews will work on repairs through the weekend.
