Police: Two injured after 'large number' of shots fired

(WMC-TV) - Police responded to a large number of shots being fired in South Memphis Friday night near the area of McLemore Avenue and Pond Street.

When officers arrived on the scene around 7 p.m., they found one victim was shot in the 700 block of East McLemore. They found another shooting victim at 832 East Trigg Avenue, according to Memphis police.

Preliminary information also revealed there was a vehicle that crashed into a pole at 688 East McLemore.

Two victims were taken to The MED. One victim is in critical condition.

"Well I heard some shooting going on ... And said a couple people got shot. I was in my bedroom when I heard the shooting, so I came outside to see what happened. I seen a young lady had crashed, and they said she got shot in the leg, a baby got shot, and a man got shot," said resident Sharnal Barton.

Police have not released the ages of the victims. No arrests have been made at this time.
