Man discovers black widow spider in broccoli at Ohio Kroger

Sometimes you might find a stray bug or worm in your produce, but a dangerous black widow spider? Believe it. That was the case for Jacob Vaughn, a third-year medical student at UTMC, who bought a bunch of fresh broccoli at Kroger in Maumee, only to find a large arachnid alive and acting feisty on the vegetables. The South Toledo man said he discovered the spider while washing off the broccoli before cooking it when "the spider came out and started waving his hands. It was pret...

(Toledo News Now) -

This Sept. 11, two million bikers will descend on the nation's capital to honor the lives lost 12 years ago.

Bikers from all over the country will ride their motorcycles to Washington, DC in a show of solidarity and honor.

"I think it will be the most patriotic display the country has ever seen," said Mike Belair, state coordinator for Ohio.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, bikers from Ohio will depart from the rest area on I-75, just south of Bowling Green, and begin their journey.

"We're going to show support for the 9/11 victims and their families, for the police, fire and EMS, the tower workers, anyone who had family that had fallen," Belair said. "We want to show support for them."

It started as a small idea on Facebook, and has snowballed into a national movement. To the riders, it doesn't matter if it's the 12th or 20th anniversary of Sept. 11, it's about honoring the lives lost.

"That really hurt, but it brought America together. And united we stand, divided we fall," Belair said. "We should never forget, never. Even another 12 years from now, you know, I'm sure there's going to be another ride, and I'll be going then."

When the bikers arrive in DC, they will ride for four hours on a route through the city.

Those interested in participating should visit the group's Facebook page.
