(WMC-TV) - Chorus members at Munford High School call it a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Later this month, they are getting to be the backup choir for the group Foreigner when they come to Memphis.

They started out their morning warming up and then spent the rest of their time working out the kinks on a very special song.

"It sounds great. I'm excited we're even getting to do this," said MHS senior Ryan Fristensky.

On Wednesday, choir members were chosen to be the backup singers with the group Foreigner.

They will perform backup on their popular song "I Want To Know What Love Is".

"It was definitely a challenge. We had to learn a brand new song ... Well, we knew how the song went, but there were a lot of harmonies that go with a lot," said Fristensky.

Munford went up against Briarcrest Christian School in the backup choir contest.

The contest was sponsored by 94.1 FM.

"I remember her shaking. I looked at her and said what's going on. She grabbed my arm and said oh my gosh ... We won," said choir senior Jocelyn Sanabria.

Band director Peter Colin says his choir has been working on their performance for weeks.

He says he was thrilled his choir won this honor.

"In our arrangement, we interpreted this as a way to truly accompany Foreigner, not of our choir performing the song itself," said Colin.

As they perfect their performance, choir members say the chance to sing with such a well-known group will make a lifetime memory.

"I was in the room when they got the call, so me and my friends were screaming on the radio," adds Sanabria.

The last Live at the Garden performance featuring Foreigner and Munford High School will take place Friday, September 20 at the Memphis Botanic Garden.
