(WMC-TV) - A Memphis mother is seeking answers regarding the whereabouts of her baby girl's body.
Angel Marshae Lott was born August 29, 2008, but she only lived for one hour. The infant's body was buried at the Shelby County Cemetery on Ellis Road.
Her mother, Shretha Woodley, says cemetery officials told her they could not locate the baby's burial plot or the headstone Woodley says she ordered in 2010.
"She was one pound, 12 ounces. And she lived for an hour and fives minutes," recalled Woodley. "I didn't see her or get to hold her until we were saying our goodbye."
Shretha Woodley had Angel buried in the county cemetery but says she has not been able to find her infant's grave.
"It's just like I'm losing her all over again," she said. "She's supposed to be at 9300, but there is no 9300 back there. The numbers are so crazy. They just jump around all over the place."
Shelby County admitted some initial confusion over the baby's last name delayed a response.
"At times we do use a metal detector," said Lee Hinson with Shelby County.
The county says the real root of the problem is the growing the grass.
"We will talk with her and make whatever arrangements with her to correct that and let her know exactly where her baby is," said Hinson.
County officials say they plan to replace the headstone and meet with her to explain the issue.
