Action News 5 launches all new book club

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - Do you love to read? Many of us at Action News 5 do, too! That is why we are starting our very own book club!

To kick off the Action News 5 Book Club, Senior Producer Brooke Barrett chose the first read. She picked a children's book called, "Llama Llama and the Bully Goat," written by Anna Dewdney.

The first book is geared toward children and addresses the issue of bullying in schools.

In the book's description on, it says, "Taking on a difficult, but important part of children's lives, Anna Dewdney gives readers a way to experience and discuss bullying in a safe and comforting way."

Not all of the books selected for the Action News 5 Book Club will be children's books. We will choose different genres so that a variety of readers and people at different reading levels can be involved in the book's discussion, which will happen on the Action News 5 Facebook page and Twitter account.

In addition to hosting a discussion on each book, Action News 5 will team up with Laurelwood Booksellers to give away free copies of each book selected.

Action News 5 will also host a live chat for anyone who read the book, talked to their kids about it, and wants to talk with other parents and readers.  Join in on the live chat Friday, September 27 at 12 p.m.  Click here to join:
