Suspect in homeless man's killing arrested

(WMC-TV) - Police made an arrest in the murder of a well-known homeless man who slept behind Northgate Shopping Center in Frayser.

Corey Marrow is in Shelby County Jail, charged with second degree murder.

Police say the victim is Bobby Mitchell, also known as "Cardboard". He often slept under an overhang behind shopping center.  That is also where he was found dead early Thursday morning.

According to the affidavit of complaint, a witness told investigators Marrow said he had killed someone earlier and even described the scene to him. Two other witnesses told investigators Marrow stated he had broken his hand beating on "Cardboard".

People in the area told Action News 5 that Mitchell was killed during an argument over a woman. Police have not confirmed that as a motive.

Marrow is being held without bond and is due in court Monday morning.
