(WMC-TV) - Grizzlies guard Mike Conley continues to do his part bringing awareness and money to sickle cell research.
The 5th annual Mike Conley Bowl-n-Bash was held at Billy Hardwick's in East Memphis on Saturday.
Conley and several of his Grizzlies teammates put on their bowling shoes to help raise money for the disease, which affects a member of Conley's family.
"It's amazing to see how this community just grasps on and are willing to help. That's why I love this city, love the people here. They're always willing to lend a hand when someone needs it. That's what I'm trying to do, and help people the best I can," said the Grizz point guard.
The event benefits the Methodist Healthcare Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center, and has already doubled its total raised from last year.
