Police: Video vending thief caught after two years

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Authorities have caught up with a Phoenix man who they said stole hundreds of DVD and Blu-ray movies and video games from several Red Box vending locations.

Phoenix police spokesman officer James Holmes said 35-year-old Vincent Bandin had figured out a way to get around the security system on the vending machines.

Holmes said during a two-year period from October 2011 to October 2013, Bandin was able to steal at least 680 movies and video games valued around $31,000.

Bandin told police he sold the videos and games to support his drug habit, said Holmes.

Holmes said Bandin was charged with theft and trafficking in stolen goods.
