Mid-South law requires voter identification

(WMC-TV) - A new Mid-South law requiring voters to show photo identification is not going away.

Arkansas lawmakers have confirmed they are supporting the new state law.

The Republican-controlled legislature enacted the law earlier in 2013 when it overrode a veto by the Democratic Governor Mike Beebe.

Currently, poll workers by law must ask voters for identification. However, voters do not have to show it to cast a ballot. This law would change that policy.
