Third teen charged in J.P. Shelley's murder case

UPDATE: An investigation was ordered into the police interrogation of a teenager who ended up confessing to a murder he did not commit. After spending two months in juvenile hall, Terrell Johnson, 17, was released after it was decided that his confession was coerced. Investigators determined that Johnson was not involved in the murder of J.P. Shelley.

(WMC-TV) - A third teenager is charged in the death of contractor J.P. Shelley, who was shot and killed during a robbery.

Thomas Moss, 17, was arrested around 11 p.m. Monday. He faces two charges: first degree murder in perpetration of aggravated robbery, as well as aggravated robbery.

Two other teenagers, Derek Cunningham, 15, and Corey Sandifer, 16, are also in custody facing the same charges.

According to Memphis police, J.P. Shelley was robbed and then shot while working on a house on the 4700 block of Scottsdale Avenue on October 4,2013. He later died at The MED from his injuries.
