(WMC-TV) - ESPN is in town to showcase the Memphis Tigers basketball team. Memphis Madness is this Friday night at FedexForum.
Head Coach Josh Pastner has big expectations for Tiger Nation this upcoming season.
"We're going to have a tremendous evening. I can tell you that. It's going to be energized. I'm all about energy. Life is about energy, positive energy. It's going to be on the move. You don't want to miss it. Doors open at 6:30 [p.m.] They'll end by 9 [p.m.]," said Pastner.
With the tigers now in the American Athletic conference, you will see tougher opponents and some old rivals.
"You got the defending champs, Louisville. You got UConn, Cincinnati, South Florida, Temple, Rutgers, along with SMU, Houston, and Central Florida so we have a heck of a league ... One of the best in the country," said Pastner.
The expectations remain high for Pastner and his players.
"We don't want ever the expectations to change here. That's what makes it great, and we want the expectations to be as high as it can be year in year out," said Pastner. "In Memphis, they want you to go ... And win the national championship every year. So we got to hopefully have an opportunity to do that. It's the one of thing that hasn't been done here, win a national title. We'd love to have an opportunity to bring that back."
