MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Just a few weeks after her husband was murdered on the job, Beverly Shelley is trying to keep the memory of her husband alive.

J.P. Shelley was shot and killed while working as a contractor on a home on the 4700 block of Scottsdale Avenue on October 4,2013.

Saturday, Shelley began a Facebook group "In Loving Memory of J.P. Shelley".

The page already has nearly 1,200 likes.

Shelley said this gives her hope.

"I just don't want him to be remembered as just another murder statistic in Memphis. I mean, he had a face, he had a name, he had a family. I want people to see that this can happen to anyone," explained Shelley.

Police have arrested the three teens and charged them in the murder of J.P. Shelley. They are scheduled to appear in court on November 1st.
