30-foot-long catfish arrives at Beale Street Landing - WMC Action News 5 - Memphis, Tennessee

30-foot-long catfish arrives at Beale Street Landing

(WMC-TV) - Imagine the biggest fish you have ever seen. Now, multiply that by 100. That is what arrived at Beale Street Landing around 7 a.m. Monday morning.

The catfish that arrived was so big that a tractor-trailer had to deliver it and traffic had to be controlled in the area while it was unloaded. But this is not the kind of fish you catch, it is an interactive catfish for kids.

"Interactive. Climb all over it, go anywhere you want on this catfish," laughed Reb Hayslip, Hayslip Studios designer.

The play structure is the latest addition to the construction going on at Beale Street Landing. It is expected to be a big hit with children.

It took a giant crane and quite a few workers to put the catfish into place.

If you look closely, you will see that it has eyes, gills, and almost everything else you would expect to see on a fish of its size.

"Climb inside of it, climb over the top of it go in its gills," said Hayslip. "It's going to be fantastic. It's going to be the only playground downtown."
