LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock-based NTS Communications has announced a new merger.

Once complete, NTS will be a privately held company.

NTS provides Internet, telephone, and cable TV service to customers here on the South Plains, and several other states.

They're now merging with a Connecticut firm named Tower Three, which will acquire the company for $2 a share.

Leaders say it will allow them to expand their network and service.

The deal is expected to close early next year.

Back in 2007, X-Fone out of Mississippi purchased NTS and retained the NTS name.
