ShapeUp ShowDown: Casting call

(WMC-TV) – Dozens of Mid-Southerners showed up for a chance at a spot in our ShapeUp ShowDown weight loss competition.

The casting call was held at the Bartlett location of Memphis Judo Jiu-Jitsu and Fitness Kickboxing.

Organizers waded through the applications and interviewed close to 50 candidates, looking for the most dedicated and committed to losing weight and leading healthier lives.

The contestants had different reasons for wanting to join the ShapeUp ShowDown challenge.

Challenge hopeful Greg Westbrook said, "Just to get healthy. I've been trying to lose weight for a while with no success, so…"

"I've been overweight since I was little. I've been on and off diets ever since the age of 4. So, yeah, I've been through the weight loss struggles my whole life," explained Michael Tyson.

Another challenge hopeful, Gale Tedfor said, "When I saw it on channel 5, I realized I needed to do something. I have one daughter; she's an only child and I wanna be here for my grandchildren."

Even if you don't make the cut for the ShapeUp ShowDown challenge, you can still get help from our weight loss team and lose the weight in our "at home" ShapeUp Challenge
