(WMC-TV) - Mississippi State doesn't have a very easy path to six victories and a fourth straight season of bowl eligibility.
Beating Kentucky would be a good first step.
The Bulldogs, who are 3-3 but 0-2 Southeastern Conference, host Kentucky tonight in a matchup of two teams vying for their first conference victory of the season.
The Bullies are coming off an unimpressive 21-20 victory over Bowling Green on Oct. 12. The Wildcats have just one win this season, but State coach Dan Mullen says, don't be deceived by numbers.
"Win loss results might not total what you're accomplishing on the field. You watch their team and they're accomplishing an awful lot, their guys are playing hard, playing hard for 4 quarters, buying into their system, and you see an awful lot of growth and development on a team that looks like a very young football team," says Mullen.
Mississippi State has won four straight against the Wildcats, including last season's 27-14 victory in Lexington, Ky.
