Manhunt over for double murder suspect

(WMC-TV) - A statewide manhunt is over now that a man wanted for two murders has been caught.

According to Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby, Michael Wright was captured near McComb, MS, while doing yard work for a local church shelter for the homeless. He reportedly began staying at the shelter very recently.

Police believe Wright, who is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend in Jackson, Mississippi, killed again after posting a $500,000 bond.

According to the murder victim's sister, Diane White, Wright's family put up a piece of commercial property they owned in Panola County to pay his bond. That same piece of land, according to White, is where the body of murder victim, Cere White Cannon, was discovered on Christmas Eve in December 2012.

The second victim is the uncle of Wright's wife, Sharice Latham. Jerry Brent, 55, was shot to death. His body was found Wednesday, October 9 at a home near Utica, Mississippi.

Action News 5's Michael Clark is working to learn more about Wright's capture.
