USC jumps six spots in latest AP Poll

COLUMBIA, SC (TheBigSpur.com) South Carolina rose six spots in the latest Associated Press Poll released on Sunday morning. The Gamecocks, ranked No. 14 in the new poll, mounted a 17-point comeback victory over fifth-ranked Missouri on Saturday night at Faurot Field.

The Gamecocks (6-2, 4-2) have been ranked 57 consecutive weeks in the poll, which extends their school record-long streak. South Carolina is tied with Stanford for fifth-longest current streak of being ranked in the AP Top 25.

Clemson's AP ranking remains unchanged at No. 9.

Head coach Steve Spurrier and his team will return to game action this Saturday, November 2 against Mississippi State. Kickoff is set for 12:21 p.m. on the SEC Network.

Alabama holds onto the top spot in the national rankings with its 45-10 victory over Tennessee on Saturday afternoon at home. The Crimson Tide have now been ranked for 91 consecutive weeks in the AP Poll.

Missouri, which was ranked fifth nationally with a perfect 7-0 record entering the weekend, suffered a five spot drop in the polls and are now No. 10 nationally.

LSU stepped out of conference and registered a 48-16 victory over Palmetto State team Furman on Saturday night. The Tigers moved up two spots to No. 11 Texas A&M, ranked No. 16 entering the week, jumped four spots after beating Vanderbilt 56-24 at Kyle Field.

The only other ranked SEC team in action was Auburn, which improved to 7-1 on the season after knocking off cupcake Florida Atlantic in out of conference play. The Tigers, previously ranked 11th, moved up three spots in the AP Poll.
