(WMC-TV) - The names of the three deputies involved in a weekend shooting that killed a man have been released by Tipton County Sheriff's Office.

Jason Allen, Demario Avery, and Brandon Williams all fired shots at Jake Ramsey Maese-Murphy, 26, on Saturday when they say he came at them with a knife.

Tipton County deputies initially went to a house at 245 Watkins Road in Drummonds to find Gerald Murphy, 60, who was the center of an undercover drug investigation and under house arrest for being a habitual motor offender.

As they were entering the home, deputies say Jake Murphy confronted them with a knife. When deputies used a Taser on him, they say he pulled out the probes and then yelled out that he had a gun. When confronted again by Jake Murphy, the deputies say they fired their weapons.

Here is information about each deputy as provided by Tipton County Sheriff's Office:

Deputy Sheriff Jason Allen has been employed at the Tipton County Sheriff's Office since 24 May 2013. He is assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division.

Deputy Sheriff Demario Avery has been employed at the Tipton County Sheriff's Office since 16 December 2005. He is assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division and a member of the SWAT Team.

Investigator Brandon Williams has been employed at the Tipton County Sheriff's Office since 03 December 2001. He is assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division as a Narcotics investigator.

All three deputies are on administrative leave, which is protocol as the shooting is investigated. This shooting was a first for all three deputies.

"It's unfortunate that any life has to be taken, but when we're confronted with a deadly force type of situation, their safety and the safety of others is paramount," said Chief Donna Turner, Tipton County Sheriff's Office. "Our thoughts are with the Murphy family in their loss. The whole situation is very unfortunate."

Gerald Murphy was taken into custody and charged with manufacturing marijuana after deputies found marijuana plants growing near a shed behind the house. They also found a large amount of marijuana in a vehicle.

Gerald Murphy had no comment about the series of events that ended in his son's death. Jake Murphy's aunt calls his death senseless.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation into Jake Murphy's death.
