Your Turn: Short yellow traffic lights

(WMC-TV) - This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Cary Miller. Miller is one of many people who commented on the Action News 5 investigation into the operation of the red light cameras in Memphis. Many of the intersections with red light cameras have the yellow light timed as short as three seconds, possibly increasing the number of people who get tickets. In any event, that's not going to change Miller's driving habits. In her words:

Many years ago, I quit slamming on my breaks if I was almost at a yellow light. I once heard loud squealing of tires behind me and a car rushed past me at about 50 mph in Midtown when I stopped for a yellow light. I would rather be ticketed going safely through a yellow light at a slower speed than slammed in the rear. I am laughed at for driving at a granny's pace, but more than once I have had real trouble stopping for a yellow light at Poplar and Highland. Something is definitely amiss with the timing of these lights.

That's Cary Miller's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
