A Marshall County woman has been arrested after police say she shot and killed her husband.

On November 3 at about 7:01 p.m., Marshall County Central Dispatch received a call from a woman reporting that she had accidentally shot her husband.

It happened in the 1700 block of Horace Barnes Road near Calvert City.

When Deputies William Strader, Cory Curtner, and Sergeant Eddie McGuire arrived, they found 46-year-old Jay Seaford of Calvert City unresponsive.

EMS found Seaford dead.

Detective Dan Melone of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to investigate.

As a result of the investigation Detective Melone arrested Seaford’s wife Rhonda E. Seaford, 47, of Calvert City and charged her with murder.

The investigation revealed that the Seafords were arguing prior to the shooting and that Jay Seaford had fired two shots into the floor and then at some time later Rhonda Seaford had the gun and had pulled the trigger shooting Jay in the back.

Detective Melone and Deputy William Strader are continuing the investigation for the Sheriff’s Office along with Coroner Mitchell Lee of the Marshall County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy is expected Monday.
