LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville man has been arrested for using the identity of someone else to buy jewelry.

An arrest warrant states Cody Rumbaugh, 23, purchased a watch and necklace worth $1,400 at Leroy's Jewelers on Dixie Highway using the credit account of another man. When he made the purchase, Rumbaugh presented a Kentucky ID with the other person's name on it.

The ID theft victim learned about the purchase when he received a bill in the mail from the store. After Louisville Metro Police reviewed store surveillance video of the transaction, the victim made a positive identification of Rumbaugh.

The victim told police that approximately two weeks before the purchase was made, he had mistakenly left his wallet in Rumbaugh's vehicle.

Rumbaugh was arrested November 6 on charges of fraudulent use of a credit card, forgery and theft of identity.
