U of M Homecoming parade brings joy to supporters

(WMC-TV) - The University of Memphis Homecoming parade moved off campus this year, bringing the excitement to a fever pitch.

This year, the Tigers Homecoming Parade moved from the main campus to Tobey Park.

The procession of floats then marched on to Tiger Lane.

One University of Memphis student, Jennifer, thought the whole experience was a lot of fun. Jennifer did not give her last name.

"It was fun just getting to know each other, building the floats, staying up late night, (and) just having a good time," stated Jennifer.

One different float, was a Tiger blue fire truck.

"It's kind of different. Kind of unique," said alumnus Ed Henderson.

For the first time in Tigers history, the parade of 45 student organizations marched to the foot of Liberty Bowl stadium.

Traditionally, the parade and game were held in two locations.

This brings both events together.

Ricky Kirby, a University of Memphis student, was excited about the event.

"I think it's a great opportunity to see our alumni come back. It's great that Tiger Lane is full right now," declared Kirby.

The Tigers-in-training seemed to capture the true spirit of the day.

"I'll have a year's supply of candy," said one Tigers-in-training, Christian Williamson.
