SCS: high risk students inspire healthy choices event

(WMC-TV) - The Shelby County School district is hosting a week-long event encouraging people to focus on making healthy choices.

The initiative began when a report showed half of the Memphis students were involved in high risk behaviors.

District teachers are also gaining additional resources to help support students.

Different activities and games will be available for students to participate.

The schedule is as follows:

Monday, November 18: Healthy Neighborhood Day

1:30 p.m. Robert R. Church Elementary School

Tuesday, November 19: Drug Free Day

10 a.m. W.H. Brewster

12:45 p.m. Craigmont Middle School

Wednesday, November 20: Healthy Relationships Day

3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Colonial Middle School

Thursday, November 21: Healthy Habits Day

Time to be announced, East High School

Friday, November 22: Coordinated School Health Expo

9 a.m. Shelby County Schools Board of Education
